MANILA, Philippines—Social media is often rife with negative stories. Murders, robberies, starving children, war – you name it, you will see it on your social news feeds and streams. It’s pretty cool and uplifting then when a situation which could have ended negatively for a camera owner became one that definitely puts the faith back in humanity.
It was a simple Facebook status update: In summary, a guy left his camera in a cab (and we all know the chances of getting something like that back here in Manila is rather slim) – and the person who found it posted a lost and found notice like no other. See for yourself:
Hi guys! Can you help identify who I am? It was so silly of me to leave my camera on a cab. I took a knee selfie (as in a photo of my knee lolz) and left my camera there because I had other important things to do. Luckily, a very nice girl hopped on the cab next and found it. She’s super awesome and very much willing to return it provided that I give her a handwritten promissory note saying that I‘ll take care of my things better plus an obligatory happy birthday message just because she wants to get one (it’s on the 11th), and I am very much willing to do them because my camera is held onto by a kind stranger.
Everyday that I’m left undiscovered, this girl can post more selfie photos of myself, my set of friends, and my cute cat, until my identity is revealed. Please know who I am! Share this! My dignity may be at stake…”
