MANILA, Philippines—A teenager accidentally shot his head with a handgun while trying to make a selfie, a television report said.
The 15-year old boy, whose name was not disclosed, was posing for a self-portrait photograph with one hand holding a phone while the other hand holding a 9mm gun pointed at his chin, the report said.
However, instead of pressing the camera button, the boy apparently pulled the trigger instead. The bullet hit his nose and passed through his head, it added.
According to the report, the gun was owned by his uncle.
He was rushed to the Batangas Medical Center in Batangas City on June 18 and was discharged a month after.
The family, however, said the boy showed unusual behavior after he was discharged from the hospital.
The boy was talking to himself most of the time and also complained of headaches.
This prompted his family to bring him back to the hospital and is now again confined at the ICU of the same hospital where he was previously confined.
The report said the family still has an unsettled debt in the hospital amounting to 200, 000 pesos while his mother, who is an overseas Filipino worker has returned to Oman, Jordan in the Middle East.
The family appealed to the public to help them foot the hospital bills.
