MANILA, Philippines – While the announcement of free Internet by Smart Communications was a welcome treat for its 66 million prepaid subscribers, those from competitor Globe Telecommunications were now demanding the same service.
Starting Friday until November 30, prepaid subscribers of Smart, Talk ’N Text, and Sun Cellular could avail of the free but not unlimited service, Manny V. Pangilinan, PLDT chairman, said in a press conference at the Shangri-la Hotel in Makati.
Earlier on Friday, Pangilinan tweeted about the big announcement but left out the details.
Before Smart’s offer, competitor Globe Telecommunications treated its 38 million users to free browsing on Facebook, an offer that started November 2013 and ended April 30.
