Netizens cheer Pacquiao win, tell Mayweather ‘you’re next’

MANILA, Philippines—Netizens took to social media to rejoice the victory of Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao over American boxer Chris Algieri. Pacquiao won by unanimous decision over Algieri who incurred his first loss in his boxing career.

After Pacquiao’s victory, netizens expressed their desire to see the “People’s Champ” fight the undefeated five-time world division champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Actress Ruffa Gutierrez said “We want #Pacquiao vs Mayweather” while television host Bianca Gonzalez said that Pacquiao will be considered “forever” as the “People’s Champ.”

Some people poked fun at Mayweather, publishing memes which showed the undefeated American boxer cowering in fear while allegedly watching Pacquiao thrash Algieri.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao’s mother, “Mommy” Dionisia, also caught the attention of the netizens, with some saying that the victory of Pacquiao will mean a new bag for her.

Pacquiao fought Algieri for 12 rounds with the American boxer falling to his knees for six times.
