Sky watchers will witness a partial lunar eclipse in the Philippines on Saturday evening.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the eclipse will begin at 4:51 p.m. and will end at 11 p.m.
The moon will rise at 6:02 p.m. on Saturday, April 4 and will set at 6:10 a.m. on Sunday, April 5.
A partial lunar eclipse is when the sun, earth and moon are not quite perfectly aligned and the earth’s shadow appears to take a bite out of the moon, according to Space.com.
A total lunar eclipse on Saturday will be seen in the western half of North America, Oceania, Australasia and other parts of eastern Asia.
“Lunar eclipses are safe to watch and observers need not use any kind of protective filters for the eyes. A pair of binocular will help magnify the view and will make the red coloration of the Moon brighter,” Pagasa said. IDL
