Good news for selfie addicts: Apple may take selfie picture-taking into a whole new and wider level in its new software version.
The next iOS upgrade may introduce exciting upgrades on the front-facing FaceTime camera of Apple’s iPhones and iPads—including the possibility of panoramic selfies.
Citing a tweet by developer Hamza Sood, a report by technology blog 9to5mac.com on Thursday said beta code strings in the upcoming iOS9 were hinting at support for changes in the front camera, namely 1080p resolution for video capture, 240 frames per second slow-mo recording, front flash and panoramic capture.
“Currently, Apple reserves many of these capabilities for the more powerful backside camera, although it’s likely that Apple would plan feature improvements for the popular front-facing camera on future iPhones,” the report said.
At present, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have 720p resolution in its front camera.
“The popularity of selfie apps and dedicated selfie sticks for taking single and group photos while being able to preview the image from the iPhone display certainly warrants attention given to improving the FaceTime camera,” the report added. RC
