MANILA, Philippines – INQUIRER.net is now an official partner of SafeZone, a service that provides free data access to mobile apps and websites. Developed by Voyager Innovations, the digital arm of Smart Communications, SafeZone’s partnership with Inquirer.net was formally launched last Monday, June 22 2015.

Dubbed as “the free side of the Internet”, SafeZone works towards bringing brands closer to their customers through on-the-go presence. According to a leading digital analytics firm, it is now the no. 1 local community website in the Philippines with an average of 9 million pageviews per month.

The service is a spin-off of SmartNet, a service offered in 2012 that provided free internet access to social networking sites. According to Benjie Fernandez, SmartNet “aimed to increase mobile Internet penetration in the Philippines.” With SafeZone, they are “opening the doors to enterprises that want to stay connected to their consumers anytime, anywhere. We are connecting the unconnected. Every Filipino can now have free internet access to digital services from lifestyle, shopping, entertainment, news and travel.”
