Anonymous declares war vs Islamic State

It looks like the French war against Islamic State will not just be waged on the battlefields, but also in the cyberworld.

The Anonymous hackers are bracing to unleash waves of cyberattacks directed at the terrorist group after its heinous acts led to the killing of 129 people in Paris last week.

In a video posted on YouTube, a man in the group’s signature Guy Fawkes mask referred to the attackers as “vermin” or pests and told the militant group that they would hunt down the perpetrators.

“These attacks cannot remain unpunished,” the man said in French. “We are going to launch the biggest operation ever against you. Expect many cyberattacks. War has been declared. Get ready.”

Anonymous, an international network of activist computer hackers, also left a warning in the end, as the man in the mask said, “We don’t forgive and we don’t forget.”

France launched massive air strikes on Sunday (Monday in Manila) directed at Raqqa, the Islamic State’s de-facto camp in Syria. The raid used 12 aircrafts to drop 20 bombs at a jihadi training camp and ammunitions dump. RC
