The Armed Forces of the Philippines has sternly cautioned the troops to be careful about their posts or shares on social media like Facebook that may be seen as favoring or disparaging certain candidates in the May elections.
Liking or sharing a link or post about politicians may be construed as a violation of the military’s order to the troops to remain nonpartisan in the coming polls.
The AFP, however, said this did not mean its 125,000 personnel don’t have a right to choose their candidates.
“The mere act of liking or sharing items on social media that may border on partisanship in favor of a candidate is not allowed,” said AFP public affairs office chief Col. Noel Detoyato in a press briefing on Monday. Julie M. Aurelio
