A 106-year-old woman danced with joy after she met US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle at the White House.
The video, which was released by the White House on Monday, showed a giddy Virginia McLaurin excitedly talking to Obama and his wife.
The US first lady caught McLaurin’s infectious energy, telling the centenarian: “I wanna be like you when I grow up.” To which a dancing McLaurin replied, “You can!”
Posing for a photo, the jolly woman told the first couple: “I thought I would never live to get in the White House.”
She said that she was very happy meeting the US first “black president and his black wife.”
“I’m here to celebrate black history,” she added.
The 106-year-old woman, who is also black, was born in 1909 in South Carolina.
In 2014, McLaurin started a White House petition saying that she wants to visit the White House and meet Obama and his family.
She also uploaded a video of her reiterating her wish.
As of this writing, the video has since been viewed 11 million times and liked by 341,000 Facebook users.
