Filipinos most frequent users of FB Messenger’s hidden basketball game

Gamers in the Philippines have bested other countries worldwide in terms of the most number of sessions on the Facebook Messenger’s hidden basketball game.

Facebook data on Wednesday showed that gamers from the Philippines topped the countries with most sessions worldwide. The country was followed by the United States and Great Britain.

Included in the top 10 were Thailand, France, Australia, Canada, Taiwan, South Korea and Mexico.

Messenger madness, whose name derives from the recently concluded National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) March Madness, was launched on March 17 and has reached 693 million sessions from 43.7 million players worldwide.

Facebook said the hidden basketball game hit 300 million sessions a week after it was launched. The social networking giant said the game took place in 61 million different conversations on Messenger.

Facebook also said that playtime peaks between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. in each country, showing that gamers preferred playing the basketball app at night.

The numbers, however, state that only less than one percent were able to score more than 30 points consecutively— with half of its users barely hitting the 10-point mark.

About 57 percent of the games had high scores between 1 to 10 points, and less than one percent were able to go above 30 points per session.
