Forget those so-called ‘hoverboards’ on wheels—outdoor recreation manufacturer Zapata Sports just released a fully operational, air-gliding machine called ’Flyboard Air’, comparable to that of Marthy McFly’s in the movie ‘Back to the Future’.
A one-minute-twenty-eight second clip uploaded on YouTube last week showed the footage of the gravity-defying device in action.
Citing reports from the Huffington Post, the company behind the invention claims the ‘Flyboard Air’ can rise up to an altitude of 10,000 feet—three times more than the height of the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa.
It could also hit speeds ranging at 93.2 miles per hour, while staying aloft for about 10 minutes at a time.
The test shown on video, however, recorded the device at just 35 mph for just under 4 minutes of air-time, with altitudes far below than 10,000 feet.
The ‘Flyboard Air’ prototype has been in development for four years, however it won’t be available for sale anytime this year.
