ALAMINOS CITY, Pangasinan—Vice President Jejomar Binay on Friday expressed fears that the credibility of the elections may be jeopardized following an online leak of voters’ information that occurred recently.
In an interview with reporters after his sortie here, Binay said the leak even included voters’ precinct numbers, which could be provided for free by local candidates.
The incident has come to be known as “Comeleak.”

“The fact of hacking ’yung bawal. Kung ’yun lang na-hack, kung saan presinto mo (na-leak), pinapalabas lang na ito’y hackable. Bagong bokabularyo ’yun,” Binay said.
Binay said he was worried that the cyberattacks may result in election fraud.
“Bawat pandarayang gagawin, it worries every candidate, lalo na’t hindi mo maisip anong extent,” Binay said.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) came under fire after information details supposedly about voters—name, addresses, precinct number, fingerprint data—became easily available online just by typing one’s name on a search engine. The website wehaveyourdata.com has since been taken down.
The supposed voters’ information was purportedly leaked by the group LulsZec Philippines just after the National Bureau of Investigation arrested one of the hackers who defaced the Comelec website.
The Comelec has apologized for the cyberattacks on the information it has secured from the country’s 55 million registered voters. RC
