A majority of INQUIRER.net readers surveyed recently said they believe that the new Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) will be able to help improve slow Internet speed in the Philippines.
INQUIRER.net started the poll on Monday, a couple of hours after Malacañang announced that President Benigno Aquino III has signed into law the creation of the DICT.

“Will the new Department of Information and Communications Technology help address slow PH Internet?” INQUIRER.net asked readers on Facebook and Twitter.
The Twitter poll, which ran for 12 hours and received 853 votes, showed that 65 percent believe that the DICT will help address slow Iinternet while 35 percent disagreed.
The number is similar to that in Facebook where 61 percent said “Yes” and 39 percent said they did not think the DICT will improve Internet speed in the country.
The DICT is tasked to work on policy and planning, improve public access, facilitate resource sharing and capacity-building and ensure consumer protection and industry development.
The INQUIRER.net poll is not a scientific survey. It is an interactivity tool that can, within its limits, reflect the interests of online readers. CDG/rga
