Facebook has apologized to veteran journalist Ed Lingao for taking down his post which slammed the proposed burial of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani – a proposal given the go-signal by President-elect Rodrigo Duterte.
In a statement, Facebook said that it was sorry for removing Lingao’s post.
“The post was incorrectly removed and has since been restored. We promptly restored the content once we realized this, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience caused,” Facebook said in a statement sent to INQUIRER.net on Thursday.
Lingao lamented that his post on his Facebook page opposing a hero’s burial for the late dictator was taken down because it supposedly violated Facebook’s community standards.

The journalist said that Marcos supporters have reported his post.
Lingao thanked other Facebook users who protested the removal of his post.
“Guess what? FB lifted the 24-hour ban on me, and reinstated one of the two posts they deleted yesterday. Accident daw. The other one, the original post about the Libingan ng mga Bayani, is still down though. Thanks everyone! Oh, and i had a peaceful night’s sleep, because I couldn’t respond to the trolls who have resumed flooding my posts again haha,” he said. JE/rga
