End-to-end encryption may soon be available to users at the cost of a few new features.
As if to contradict the announcement made regarding DeepText–Facebook’s soon-to-be-launched artificial intelligence (AI) system that reads everything a user types–Facebook now says that end-to-end encryption may become available on Facebook Messenger in the future, according to an article in SocialTimes. End-to-end encryption will prevent Facebook and government authorities from reading messages sent between users.
The drawback is that some of the new AI and machine-learning features created for the Messenger will not be compatible with end-to-end encryption.
