Apple ventures into green energy production

Apple has created a subsidiary company called Apple Energy LLC to sell off the excess energy that its solar projects produce, a report from The Verge said.

The company will be pushing for the production of 521 megawatts from solar projects globally to feed its data centers and corporate offices worldwide. Additional investments in biogas, geothermal and hydroelectric power will ensure green energy is used in 93 percent of its global operations.

While it may seem unlikely that Apple will get substantial revenues from selling off excess energy, the company might as well earn from investments and contribute to making green energy as the norm for global companies. Alfred Bayle
