Another science experiment has boggled social media.

Destin Sandlin, an American engineer who hosts the YouTube educational series “Smarter Every Day,” filmed a video of him using a transparent potato gun as a combustion chamber, which allowed him to fire off explosions.

In the video clip, Sandlin decides whether to kindle a potato gun from the back end or the middle of the combustion chamber. He filmed the blasts at 20,000 frames per second, which resulted in an unbelievable slow-motion footage of how fiery explosions occur.

His hypothesis is that igniting from the middle is better because it will produce a “more even” firing. Between explosion trials, Sandlin would lecture viewers on the basics of a combustion chamber and different chemicals used for the experiment.

The geeky science video did win the minds of social media as it has managed to attract 1.2 million views since its posting on Wednesday. Gianna Francesca Catolico
