Knowing that second-hand smoke is dangerous to his health, a university student from Nanning, southern China, developed a “goofy” machine to shield himself from cigaret smoke emitted by his dorm mates.
The “introvert” 26-year-old, who uses the pseudonym Shandianzhililiang on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo, received bickering and applause from Chinese netizens after creating a DIY nebulizer out of cardboard, black garbage bags, and a clip-on fan.
The prototype is connected to a window that supplies fresh air to the student.
Aside from pictures of his respiratory device, he also drew a blueprint of how his device operates.
A Rocket News report said Weibo users judged the invention as preposterous, calling the student a “human air duct” and “someone who would die of overheating.” Gianna Francesca Catolico
