Did someone “catch” Krabby the Pokémon? Or is it just Mister Krabs traipsing at the Bikini Bottom?
A trending video uploaded on YouTube Thursday by user Francis Darracott, who uses the pseudonym Dan Rose, features the untoward adventures of a GoPro camera that sank and got buried underwater for nearly a year. One of those adventures was a clip starring a giant crab “trying to take a selfie.”
Based on reports from The Huffington Post and tech news site Tech Radar, Rose was fishing with his siblings in England when he caught the gadget, which was coated in barnacles and heavily damaged. To their amusement, the camera’s SD card was fully intact and still functioning.
Rose posted the video with high hopes to locate the Go Pro’s owner. After 14 hours they finally contacted its owner. Not only that, the video hit the bull’s eye with 2,525,000 views as of Wednesday.
Mister Krabs thought he could sell the GoPro for money, one user commented, comparing the crab to the fictional character in Nickelodeon’s cartoon “Spongebob Squarepants.”
The uploader thanked social media users and joked, “[I] hope that crab will still be around for an interview if you know or have heard from him lately please get in touch.” Gianna Francesca Catolico
