A group of middle-school kids from Mystic Connecticut lent a helping hand to a local aquarium to create a 3D printed boot for the leg of an injured penguin.
The penguin in question is called ‘Purps”, an endangered African penguin. She has a damaged leg following an altercation with another bird back in 2011. This incident tore the flexor tendon in her left leg leaving it almost non-functional, reports The Next Web.
With help from ACT Group, the kids put their heads together to design as well as create a custom boot that would support Purps’ injured leg and allow her to regain some of her lost mobility.Alfred Bayle
