With the RX 480 already launched and making reviewers happy with its performance results, the next item of interest are its two siblings–the RX 470 and RX 460. Leaked information suggests that these two cards may very well meet expectations.
Tech Radar reports that the information was from AMD slides that were spotted by Videocardz. The slides indicated that the RX 470 will almost hit 5 teraflops on performance as opposed to the official value released by AMD early on of just 4 teraflops. It will have 2,048 stream processors, a base clock of 926MHz and with a boost capability of 1206MHz. It also has as a memory speed of 1650MHz and a TDP of 120W.
Some provided benchmarks of games running in full HD and “ultra” settings showed that the RX 470 performed 2.4 times faster than the older R9 270 in Doom and Total War: Warhammer. Battlefield 4 was seen as running 1.4 times faster.
On the lower end of the spectrum is the RX 460. It has a 2.2 Tflops of computational power and 896 stream processors. It also has a base clock of 1090MHz with a boost capability of 1200MHz. Its memory speed clocks in at 1750MHz. It will be released in 4GB and 2GB variants with a TDP of only 75W. This means that a power connector to the power supply will not be necessary.
The RX 460 is being touted as having “console-class GPU performance,” meaning it will do well in eSports titles like Overwatch, Rocket League, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
If the leaked information proves accurate, the RX 470 and RX 460 will be hitting the market on Aug. 4 and 8, respectively. Alfred Bayle
