Seagate unveiled one of the largest-capacity solid-state drives (SSDs) to date at the Flash Memory Summit currently being held in Santa Clara, California, USA. It can hold up to 60TB of digital data.
According to Engadget, the 60TB SAS SSD is meant for the company’s data center portfolio and not for desktop computers. Despite the lack of information for the commercial market, a capacity of 60TB is quite impressive. It can easily hold hundreds of HD-quality movies and millions of photos.
The drive was made with flexibility and quick accessibility in mind. This would make it easier for data centers to scale up storage in the future from 60TB to 100TB and so on because of the similar form factor with previous storage media.
