Facebook to bypass ad blockers

Facebook is cracking down on clickbait ads in the hope of delivering better quality and curated ads for its users. At the same time, it is also working to bypass ad blockers so that its paying clients can get their ads to users.

A new “Ad Preferences” menu will be added to Facebook to let users choose only ads that interest them. They can also remove their name from the customers’ services and other lists, TechRadar reported.

In exchange for this control, the ads that the user has deemed “relevant” will be shown on the news feed regardless of whatever ad-blocking software is installed in the system. Facebook has not disclosed how it is bypassing ad-blocking software.

Ads are what keep sites like Facebook stay afloat financially. Giving the users control over what ads they want to see should be a good compromise to ensure that advertisers don’t end up simply annoying the people they want to attract to their products.  Alfred Bayle
