Joseph Schooling has become a household name overnight after upsetting Michael Phelps in the 100m butterfly event on Friday (Saturday in Manila), while also claiming Singapore’s first gold medal in the process.

His sudden rise to fame, however, has caused a woman much regret after apparently snubbing the soon-to-be gold medalist on the popular-dating site Tinder, back in April.
Twenty-year-old Sabrina Salazar posted a couple of screen grabs on Twitter on Saturday (Sunday in Manila), showing a previous flirtatious exchange between her and a guy named “Joseph.”
The conversation, made between April 7 and April 8, featured a man whose profile picture showed Schooling while competing at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
Much like the swimmer, the man identified himself as 21 years old and was also enrolled at the University of Texas in Austin.

Their conversation, however, soon ended as Salazar stopped replying. She described the incident as “her biggest failure.”

“I was watching Michael Phelps in the 100m butterfly race and then Joseph won. I noticed the name sounded familiar and the announcers kept saying he was a Longhorn so I looked back through my Tinder matches and found out it was him,” Salazar was quoted as saying in a report in DailyMail.
“Honestly, I just thought it was hilarious that we had matched at one point. It’s pretty crazy to think you’ve had an interaction with an Olympic gold medal winner,” she added.
Her tweets have gone viral since its initial posting, as the initial one was retweeted over 36,000 times and has gathered more than 76,000 likes. Her follow-up post was also retweeted 8,000 times and liked by almost 11,000 users as of this writing. Khristian Ibarrola
