When Microsoft announced the imminent release of Xbox Play Anywhere, many PC gamers were ecstatic at the prospect of playing some of the top titles in Xbox on their high-end gaming PCs. The day has finally arrived as Microsoft officially opens pre-orders for Windows 10 compatible Xbox games on the Windows Store.

For the time being, only three titles will be available for pre-order but, make no mistake about it, these are not games to scoff at. First on offer is the sci-fi adventure ReCore, then racing title Forza Horizon 3 and, finally, the multiplayer shooter Gears of War 4, reports The Next Web.

Apart from cross-compatibility between the Xbox One and Windows 10, users will also be able to share saves, progress and even achievements between the two platforms, allowing them to pick up where they left off.

ReCore will be made available on Sept. 13, Forza Horizon 3 on Sept. 23 and Gears of War 4 on Oct. 14 for North America (releases for other regions will follow a few days later).

While not all Xbox One titles will not be made available for Windows 10 to allow some exclusivity for the console, Play Anywhere still gives developers an extra avenue to showcase their games to more gamers. Hopefully classic games such as the iconic Halo 3 and succeeding titles will also be made available to PC gamers in the coming days.  Alfred Bayle
