A short anime clip featuring President Rodrigo Duterte’s rise to the presidency is making the rounds on social media.
The one-minute-and 28-second video titled “El Presidente,” which was produced by the Davao Nikkei Jin Anime Club and Bisayaball Community, showed a preview of the longtime mayor’s simple lifestyle in his hometown of Davao City.
It showed Duterte riding a motorcycle in his usual attire, and being interviewed by the media outside his house in Davao, sitting on a monoblock chair wearing only casual clothes and slippers.
The clip also showed Duterte as a student, his presidential campaign, first State of Nation Address, and a shaking of hands with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
As of writing, the “El Presidente” clip on the Bisayaball Facebook page has garnered 749,000 views, 36,800 shares, 17,2000 reactions and 1,200 comments. YG/RAM
