Planning for vacations are tedious and at times headache-inducing. So Google has decided to help out frequent flyers with the new Google Trips app.  Image Google

At first Google helped travelers get around unfamiliar locations with Maps. Now the company is offering to even help plan trips for users through their new app Google Trips.

Google Trips offers users the resources and tools that would allow them to personalize their vacation plans all in one app. It lets users keep track of reservations, make to-do lists, scout for places to eat and drink, as well as organize day plans. Best of all, trip arrangements can be made accessible offline by downloading them like how one would download map data on Maps.

Getting around

The app offers data from the top 200 cities around the world. Users will be able to browse through a variety of day plans that include popular daily itineraries. The database includes the most popular sites, attractions and local favorites into a complete day plan based on how other visitors have done it.

Google also recognizes that each person has his or her style of traveling as well as places that they want to see. Creating custom day plans with their preferred destination at the center of it will be made easy through Google Trips. By pressing the “+” button in the day plan tiles, a map view jumps up to show all the places of interest surrounding a given area. From here it’s just a matter of connecting the dots.

Flights and reservations

Keeping track of flight details, hotel reservations and other important documents can be a pain especially when one ends up hunting for a Wi-Fi connection just to download email. Most either print out all emails or keep screenshots in a quick-access folder on their mobile devices for reference. Google trips will also take care of these within the “Reservations” tile.

The app is now live at the Google Play and Apple App Store.  Alfred Bayle
