Virtual private networks, or VPNs, are good means of remaining anonymous over the vast internet and, in some cases, bypassing regional blocks for certain content. Because of their usefulness, Opera has decided to incorporate them into its latest browser version.
VPNs normally cost money for a subscription that gives users the anonymity that they seek, as well as other security measures that can be implemented based on their plan.
The VPN feature on Opera 40 is completely free and easy to use. Simply navigate into the browser’s settings and tick the “Enable VPN” option under the Security & Privacy section, reports The Verge.
Users may also monitor their data usage as well as modify which country they are being routed through via the browser address bar. At present, the choices are limited to Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Singapore and the US. Unfortunately streaming US Netflix from outside the country will not be possible as Opera’s proxies have already been blocked by the video-streaming service.
