Sometimes, long-lasting friendships come in the most unpredictable and surprising ways.
A gorgeous butterfly weaved a special friendship with a koala and was captured in a one-in-a-million video shoot at the Symbio Wildlife Park in Helensburgh, Australia.
The insect skated on the center stage and “photobombed” Willow, the zoo’s one-year-old koala. The butterfly poked on the animal’s nose, and instead of shooing it away, the koala tenderly bonded with the butterfly. Later, it perched on the koala’s forehead and stayed there for a long time.
In an interview with ABC News, the park’s marketing and creative services manager, Kevin Fallon, elaborated that the clip, which was uploaded on the zoo’s Facebook page on Monday and has gone viral with 2.8 million views as of Tuesday, is part of the zoo’s campaign video for sustainability initiatives.
“We had always planned to have a butterfly on a flower, with the koalas in the background, as one of those iconic little bits of footage for the introduction of the sustainability video,” Fallon told the news site.
“But when we actually put the butterfly on the flower, Willow came running over and starting getting really inquisitive, nuzzling up to it. Before we knew it, it actually flew onto Willow’s head and then stayed there for ages, he further illustrated. Gianna Francesca Catolico
