The release of what was to be considered as the first Android device that’s equipped with Google’s Tango technology to enter the market has been delayed.

The Lenovo Phab2 Pro was initially announced with a summer release. However, a recent announcement, confirmed by CNET, has moved the launch date to November, reports The Next Web.

The 6.4-inch phablet is the first smartphone to incorporate Google’s new Tango technology, which allows users to navigate indoors with maps as well as visualize virtual objects.

It is worth noting, however, that the Phab2 Pro will not be compatible with the Google Daydream VR headset. Apparently it lacks the necessary AMOLED display that would facilitate a smooth VR experience. It boils down to a choice between VR and AR.

On the other hand, Google has yet to publish the required specifications for a device to be considered “Daydream-ready” so it may not be such a bad thing. By the time the Phab2 Pro comes out, there should be more details on Daydream-compatible phones to make an educated choice.  Alfred Bayle
