PH leg of NBA 2K17 Asia tournament kicks off Saturday

Already considered one of the biggest spprts videogame releases of the year, the NBA 2K17 hits fever pitch with the staging of the Philippine qualifier of the NBA 2K17 PS4 Asia Tournament this weekend at SM Southmall in Las Pinas.

The two-day event starting Saturday marks the first two rounds of qualifying. The third and final qualifier leg will be held during the E-Sports and Gaming Summit (ESGS) on Oct. 29 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex.

The top 4 players from the three qualifier legs will vie in the final rounds on Oct. 30 with the Top Two finishers representing the country at the NBA 2K17 PS4 Asia Regional Finals in Taipei early next year.

Released last month, the NBA 2K17 offers innovations in gameplay and graphics. Creators of the game introduced a new My Career storyline featuring award winning actor Michael B. Jordan, in addition to the most realistic on-court NBA simulation to date.

“We’re thrilled to deliver an even more ambitious and authentic basketball experience in NBA 2K17,” said Greg Thomas, president of visual concepts.

“Both new fans and NBA 2K veterans will have the most comprehensive experience in our franchise’s history, starting with an unparalleled My Career showcase placing gamers throughout a unique, compelling storyline.”

The game also features the USA Basketball Men’s National Team and a new soundtrack rendered by the likes of Imagine Dragons and Grimes.
