When Apple got rid of the audio jack, they referred to it as an “act of courage.” Well, it appears that Apple may be gathering even more courage as rumors have hinted at the absence of a standard USB port in the new MacBook Pro.
According to notable Japanese publisher Macotakara, also one of the first to predict the absence of the headphone jack in the iPhone 7, Apple may also be planning to get rid of MagSafe and Thunderbolt ports in favor of the Thunderbolt 3, reports The Next Web.
Apart from Thunderbolt 3 support, users will also be able to charge their device through a USB-C port. However, with the majority of devices still using the traditional USB connector, adapters will become an indispensable accessory for every user.
Macatokara further suggests that the MacBook Pro will be unveiled in an event in October with 15.4- and 13.3-inch models. A next-gen 13.3-inch MacBook Air is also speculated to be released to replace the current 11-inch model.
Of course, Apple is more than happy to provide customers with the necessary USB Type C dock for their needs at the price of $79. It comes with USB 3.0, USB-C, and HDMI ports. Alfred Bayle
