When challenging big brands for market share, a company has to be prepared to go beyond borders. What Xiaomi has done is to take them down entirely with its new, edgeless Xiaomi Mi MIX.
Sporting a massive 91.3% screen to body ratio, it literally offers edge-to-edge touchscreen, with no hidden thin strip of plastic under the glass. Built from ceramic materials, the 6.4-inch device was designed by French designer Philippe Starck, reports PhoneArena.
The last remnants of the traditional bezel is found at the bottom where the 5-megapixel front camera is also located.
This monster phablet is not just a nice piece of smartphone technology to look at because under the hood is a Snapdragon 821 SoC that’s clock at 2.35GHz. Two versions will be made available: a standard one that has 4GB of RAM with 128GB of storage and a 6GB “Pro” version that has 256GB of internal storage. Proportional to its size is a generous 4,400mAh battery. Also worth noting is the Pro version’s 18K gold trim.
Its other features include a 16-megapixel camera, 24bit Hi-Fi audio and Quick Charge 3.0.
The Xiao Mi MIX will be released in China on Nov. 4 and will be priced at 3,499 yuan (P24,969) for the 4GB model and 3,999 yuan (P28,525) for the 6GB Pro version. Alfred Bayle
