Social media giant Facebook on Tuesday rolled out its Safety Center and Bullying Prevention Hub in a bid to make the platform safer and friendlier to its millions of users.

“Facebook is where people share some of the most important moments in life. That’s why we build our services and tools to help people stay in control and feel safe being themselves,” Facebook said in a statement.

“We work with external experts, including a Safety Advisory Board, and gather feedback from our community to develop policies, tools and resources to keep you safe,” it added.

Through the site https://www.facebook.com/safety, users can run a privacy checkup to ensure that only the people they want can see their posts, and a security checkup that can boost their account’s security in short steps.

The safety center contains community standards and policies, available tools and resources such as safety tips and video guides that users can maximize to maintain a safe online environment.

The bullying prevention hub also provides relevant information and advice to teens, parents, and educators in addressing cases of bullying whether online or offline.

“Our Community Standards and related policies aim to find the right balance between giving people a place to express themselves and promoting a welcoming and safe environment for everyone. They define what is and isn’t okay to share on Facebook. Our goal is to create an environment where we treat each other with empathy and respect,” Facebook said. YG/JE
