A long solid wall of earth emerged at a beach in New Zealand after some parts of the seafloor had been raised over a meter above the water following the 7.8-magnitude earthquake last Monday.
Found at the south end of Waipapa Bay, the raised land mass is currently covered with the alien-like life forms from beneath the waves, Popular Science reported. Seaweed, crustaceans, mollusks and dead fish can all be found on this new beachfront area.
Apparently, the raised seabed is from either the Australian or Pacific tectonic plates. The last shift which had pushed a chuck of the coast upwards was way back in 1855. At the time, the shoreline between the towns of Wellington and Hutt Valley was hit by a magnitude-8.2 earthquake. Alfred Bayle
