Netflix has definitely enhanced our television- and movie-viewing experience, and its latest feature has made it even more accessible to the public.
In an effort to showcase its vast array of selections even further, the network-television giant is launching an “offline playback” feature for a selected number of contents.
The list includes Netflix originals including Stranger Things, The Crown, Narcos, and Orange is the New Black, as well as internationally acclaimed shows like Breaking Bad and Mad Men.
The selection also includes kid-friendly movies like Paddington, Minions and Kung Fu Panda 3, while classics Boyhood, Pulp Fiction, Nightcrawler, Good Will Hunting, Hot Fuzz and many more can now be watched even without being connected to the internet.
More contents will be made available in the coming months, Netflix said.
The latest version is now available for both iOS and Android users, and can be accessed through a new download button located next to the play switch for the allowed shows.
According to Netflix’s guide page, users will be given two options to choose from in terms of video quality.
“Standard quality is a slightly lower video resolution that requires less storage space and takes less time to download. Higher quality is a higher video resolution that requires more storage space and takes more time to download,” Netflix said.
“Offline Playback” will be essential for users who are in regions that might not have the best internet connection.
The update is also believed to be a means to compete with the company’s rivals Amazon Video and Vudu, which both rolled out offline features in their platforms. Khristian Ibarrola
