‘First impressions matter’: Teen wears suit to meet newborn niece

For his first meeting with his newborn niece, one Ohio student showed up in the hospital dressed to the nines to impress her.

Twitter users had a “good laugh” when a user posted a picture of her brother donned in formal attire on Wednesday, when their new niece was born.

“My sister is about to have a baby and my brother showed up to the hospital in a suit because ‘first impressions matter,'” user Iris Kessler tweeted on Tuesday. The photo showed a picture of his brother, 18-year-old Grant, anxious in a tuxedo, coat, slacks and tie, as he waits to cradle his niece for the first time.

The good-humored tweet has racked up 123,000 retweets and 409,000 likes as of this writing. Iris also shared an adorable portrait of his brother holding baby Carter in his arms.

In an interview with NBC4, the ecstatic uncle shared his compelling reason why he dressed up like an applicant in a job interview. “When Carter’s older, I wanted her to look back and look at those pictures of the day she was born and see the like respect and the attention she was getting that day. I think me wearing the suit was a small part of that,” he told the news site.

But Iris wasn’t too amused with her brother’s comic antics. “He’s always the type to show up to things dressed up, or bring a cake for no reason,” she said in an interview with Buzzfeed. “She’s going to grow up hearing this story so I’m sure she will know that it happened, and think it’s funny.”  Gianna Francesca Catolico
