LOOK: Justin Bieber ‘fanboys’ over ‘PPAP’ singer Piko-Taro

Justin Bieber has finally met face to face with the man who created the “funniest video on the internet,” as he cracked on social media.

The “Cold Water” singer was in Tokyo last week to film a commercial for SoftBank, one of Japan’s top-notch telecommunications providers. In the commercial, Bieber parades around a campus donned in a classic blue school uniform and meets “Pen Pineapple Apple Pen” hitmaker Piko-Taro, portrayed by Japanese DJ Kosaka Daimaou, for the first time.

Bieber shared his unlikely “bromance” with the leotard print-wearing comedian on his Instagram page on Tuesday. “I have a pen,” he captioned it with the first line of Piko-Taro’s contagious ditty.

Both men, who share humble origins as viral singers before making it big, will star for SoftBank’s  “Super Student” campaign, which aims to provide discounted phone plans for Japanese students, Rocket News 24 reported.

Piko-Taro became an internet celebrity in August when 9GAG’s Facebook page reposted his “PPAP” music video, which garnered a robust 60 million views. Since then, his hit debuted 77th at the US Billboard Top 100 singles, engraving it as the shortest song to land on the elite list. In addition to his PPAP Cafe in Tokyo, many PPAP-themed items are being marketed inside his home base of Japan.

His other jingles include “Neo Sunglasses,” “Kashite Kudasaiyo” and “I Like Orange Juice,” which was dropped last month.

Bieber, 22, once swooned over 43-year-old Daimaou’s character when he shared his “PPAP” music video with his 91-million fanbase on Twitter. “My favorite video on the internet,” he captioned.  Gianna Francesca Catolico
