PlayStation’s lovable marsupial mascot is finally back in full HD glory. Gamers will soon be able to start collecting wumpa fruits starting June 30.

According to the PlayStation blog post, instead of a remake, the team behind Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy considers it an AAA remaster because the same love and effort that goes into making an AAA title was also channeled into this PS4 remaster. They also call it a ‘remaster plus’ because new features have also been added to make the most of the current hardware.

The game’s soundtrack, however, is not a remaster, but rather a remake. The original compositions were arranged based on what the PSONE was capable of. With the PS4 being much more powerful, the team decided to simply recreate everything to match the audio with the HD visuals.

And why did Vicarious Visions wait this long to announce the release date?

We had to ensure everything’s aligned to deliver it smoothly. Sometimes it takes a bit of time to know these things.”

Indeed, with a well-loved classic franchise like Crash Bandicoot, taking the time to iron everything out will certainly go a long way. So mark your calendars! Save your money! This is going to be one N. Sane trip down memory lane. Alfred Bayle/JB
