Launched in 2009 as a response to the community-created game “Defense of the Ancients”, “League of Legends” became the vanguard of a new generation of competitive and lucrative eSports games.

Its annual world championship offers a prize pot of $5 million to its finalist teams, while the active “League of Legends” playerbase is thought to have some 100 million unique participants checking into the online game each month.

That makes it the world’s most-played video game, as confirmed by a year’s worth of 2015 reports from gaming network Raptr.

The Practice Tool is being introduced as a “simple, straight forward, single-player environment that lets you test out things,” the “League of Legends” blog explained, and players can set up dummy enemies, restore their own health, gold, and energy, as well as exercise a degree of control over how each of the game’s arenas work.

The 2017 League of Legends World Championship will take place in China from September 23 to November 4, with an April to May Mid-Season Invitational in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to draw on all 13 professional regional LoL leagues. JB
