Speedrunning is doing a play-through and completing a game in the fastest time possible. One speedrunner did something different—he instead played and finished every single Nintendo NES game released in North America.
Piotr Delgado Kusielczuk, also known as The Mexican Runner, started playing and completing all 714 NES games released for the American market back in 2014, reports Kotaku.
To be precise, Kusielczuk spent 206,112 (over 3,000 hours) minutes or upwards of 900 days to complete the feat.
While most of the games had clear cut goals like in Super Mario Bros. 3, there are games like Tetris that could possibly go on forever. For these types of games, he simply opted to play them until the game itself started looping after a certain difficulty level.
The challenge started when a friend jokingly suggested attempting to complete every single NES game. His long and arduous journey ended at the completion of Super Mario Bros. 3. This effectively made Kusielczuk the first person to ever complete all 714 NES games for the North American market.
Sometimes, it’s hard to even keep playing games on a smartphone, because life just gets in the way. Imagine having to sit down in front of a TV for over three years, trying to complete over 700 games. For those curious about his exploits, you may view them over at his Twitch account. Alfred Bayle/JB
