WATCH: Hip-hop granny grooves in new ‘rice dance’ video

1

Organized by the National Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Associations, the “kome dance” or “rice dance” features a 60-year-old grandmother who goes by the stage name “Tachiflower”, reports RocketNews24.

The video clip was created to help promote the benefits of eating rice for both young and old. The dance routine performed by Tachiflower and her two younger backup dancers is a mix of traditional dance steps and moves that are influenced by modern kawaii pop culture.

Coincidentally, the phrase “No rice, no life” is equally applicable to the everyday Filipino. Also, watch out for the dancing rice grain in the video. Alfred Bayle/JB
