The National Privacy Commission (NPC) on Wednesday reminded business and government agencies to secure data processing systems during the Holy Week.
It said netizens should also be alert and vigilant against online attacks during the holiday stretch.
NPC chair Raymund Liboro, in a statement, likened the protection of personal data during the holidays to securing one’s home when leaving for an out-of-town trip.
Offices would generally be empty during the Holy Week, leaving data systems vulnerable to attacks, it said.
The same is true for homes, said the commission. Liboro said individuals should also be aware of new security patches for their phones, tablets or laptops.—JEROME ANING
