When things aren’t going our way, it’s quite easy to lose composure and just explode. One Overwatch player succumbed to that when a match was not going his way. Unfortunately, he didn’t know he was streaming to the whole internet.
Twenty-eight-year-old Vaughn was playing a ranked match on Overwatch. The enemy team’s Widowmaker appeared to be taking too many accurate shots. Losing his temper, Vaughn proceeded to utter profanities, particularly an N-word, in the game’s voice chat system.
Little did he know that the game was being streamed on Twitch and one of his viewers quickly captured part of the feed and uploaded it for the rest of the world to see.
Toronto Esports, the professional gaming outfit that Vaughn was affiliated with, acted quickly. They spoke with him and Vaughn admitted to the offense, which ultimately led to his dismissal from the organization.
Vaughn later went on TwitLonger to express remorse and tell his side of the story. He specifically said that he was not a racist, and was just very upset at the time.
He also expressed that he is done with esports, and that he will not be returning. His Twitch channel has also been shut down for violating the terms of service. Alfred Bayle/JB
