A Japanese student is making waves on social media after netizens discovered him selling rice omelette (omurice in Japanese) in various locations in Metro Manila.
Known as “Kuya Omurice” on his Facebook page, Kuya Sawa, who is currently taking up a socio-political degree in his country, peddles his rice delicacies and announces the time and location on the social networking site. Carrying a food bucket, he usually peddles his wares at North Avenue MRT Station and along Aurora Boulevard, Cubao.
Sawa’s popularity soared when netizen Diane Adolfo described her experience meeting him and tasting his homemade dish. Her post on Sunday garnered more than 52,000 likes and comments encouraging others to try Sawa’s omurice.
Each pack of omurice costs P35 and Sawa only allows one order per customer. Since he is in the Philippines to research on his thesis, he gives a P5 discount to those who would answer his survey about lowering the age of criminal liability in the country.
