In 2016, Enderun Extension together with JCI Manila paved the way in encouraging businesses to engage in sustainable practices through the Sustainable Enterprise Summit. It gathered award winning business leaders of top corporations and notable players in the social enterprise space, which provided attendees a wider scope of sustainability for both industries.
This year, Enderun Extension together with AGREA, an agri-social enterprise in the island of Marinduque, has organized Sustainability Summit 2017 which will be held on September 20, 2017 at SMX Convention Center, SM Aura, Taguig.
The goal of Sustainability Summit 2017 is to be able to view sustainability issues from different sectors as part of a system, understand how they interrelate and affect each other over time, and identify solutions and opportunities that can be implemented collaboratively. “Sustainability efforts are often pursued in isolation and not tackled on the basis of systems thinking,” says AGREA Founding Farmer and President, Ms. Cherrie D. Atilano.
The Sustainability Summit 2017 will highlight the importance of synergistic efforts in creating sustainable solutions and will tackle key Sustainability issues in Production and Consumption in Food Systems, Business Opportunities in Sustainable Design, Technology and Innovations, Hospitality and Tourism, Infrastructure and Design, and Funding Opportunities for Sustainable Enterprises. The Summit will tackle business opportunities through sustainable design, tapping into the country’s booming design industry as well as identify funding opportunities for sustainable enterprises to encourage aspiring social entrepreneurs.
The summit will be an open discussion between representatives from the government, top business players and notable social entrepreneurs on how they identify issues and create solutions that can be implemented collaboratively.
Notable speakers for the summit are:
* Ms. Hindy Tantoco, Co-Founder of Holy Carabao, Ms. Peggy Chan chef and founder of Hong Kong’s leading vegetarian restaurant, Grassroots Pantry, they will talk about rethinking ways on how we produce and consume our meals under the Sustainable Production and Consumption panel.
* Mr. Carlo Calimon, Director of StartUp Village and Ms. Liza Kuster, Co-Founder of Impact Hub Manila to talk about the importance of technology and innovation in addressing priority issues globally – anchored locally under the Sustainable Innovations and Technology panel.
* Tourism: Mr. Raf Dionisio of Circle Hostel and Atty. Mark Evidente of Two Eco, Inc. alongside Ms. Catherine Brillantes-Turvill, Board Member of TIEZA to discuss actual sustainability principles that are being implemented to address economic actions as well as consumer behaviour and how it affects the environment and communities.
* Funding Opportunities: Ms. Mica F. Tan, CEO of MFT Group of companies and the youngest millennial who is aiming to make her company public.
These are moderated panels that encourages an open discussion between speakers representing their own spaces in their respective industries as well as with the audience.
