Instagram’s nifty expiring post format, “Stories,” has added a new dimension when it comes to sharing content online.
Although it prevents users from “over-posting” stuff on their feed, the feature only allows videos or pictures taken within the past 24 hours.
The image-sharing platform is now forgoing the restriction, as it will now allow users to upload content regardless of the time it was posted.
According to The Verge, users had to re-save, screenshot or edit the metadata on the image or video to go around the limitation.
The restraint was initially practiced as a way to share and view a person’s day in real time, but Instagram has decided to lift the feature altogether since most users find a way around it anyhow.
Furthermore, Instagram will also proveide stickers and time stamps on both photos and videos, for users to not misinform their followers on the exact date a content was taken.
Instagram’s “Stories” feature was a direct rip-off from Snapchat’s disappearing content gimmick.
Since the format was introduced last year, Instagram has experienced a surge in the number of daily users, which now number 200 million. In contrast, Snapchat’s numbers have dwindled. Khristian Ibarrola /ra
