What’s with the sudden popularity of FB group ‘Classic Pare Titos and Titas of Manila’?

Nostalgia is a powerful tool and the feeling of familiarity is amplified even more with social media bringing to life to what we now call “throwback” content.

If you’re an avid Facebook user like most people, chances are you’ve stumbled upon the suddenly popular closed group page called “Classic Pare® Titos and Titas of Manila,” which urges netizens to reminisce about the good old days in the 80s and ’90s.

Created less than a month ago by Mark del Rosario, also the mind behind one of the biggest online food communities in the Philippines “Let’s Eat Pare,” the page is flocked to by Gen X-ers who are looking to share and revisit the simpler times of their childhood.

Judging by its 728,828 members (and counting), the page is also filled with millennials who are looking to learn a thing or two about the generation before them.

Posts include a wide array of “old school” food, love teams, television shows, celebrities, places, automobiles and gadgets, among others, that are sure to bring back some cherished memories.

Meanwhile, Mark Tanseco del Rosario, an admin of the page, reminded its members to keep each posting “safe for work.”

“Kindly stay classy and WHOLESOME at all times, Titos,” he wrote in a pinned post. “Treat everyone like a valuable member of the tribe and let the good times roll! Because they don’t make it like they used to. Let’s bring back the glory days!”

The page bans content featuring brothels, porn sites, dirty magazines and other lewd references. /ra
