The Game Awards in trailers: ‘PUBG’ map, ‘In the Valley of Gods’, ‘Dreams’ and more

Here’s five trailers that debuted at The Game Awards 2017 on Dec. 7: a look at “PUBG” and its new desert map, creative play suite “Dreams”, four-player horror shooter “GTFO”, prison break co-op “A Way Out” and archeological venture “In the Valley of Gods”.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds – Miramar

A new experience for the adrenaline-pumping elimination game “PUBG” which, in this trailer sets things up with a cut of its base map Erangel before switching to preview new desert area Miramar, now live on PC test servers and launching with the Xbox beta on Dec. 12.

GTFO

First look at a four-player horror shooter designed by one of the core creatives behind “Payday: The Heist” and its sequel, both of which were well-known as intense co-operative experiences. Trailer contains explicit language throughout. Announced for 2018 on PC, additional platforms TBC.

Dreams

A game that can be played and a game-creation suite whose results can be shared, and an apparent step up from the studio’s previous work, “LittleBigPlanet” which shared similar sensibilities. Expected on PlayStation 4 in 2018.

In the Valley of Gods

Egyptian exploration could very well be in vogue as, after November’s “Assassin’s Creed Origins” the developers of “Firewatch” propose an archeological expedition that could result in fame, fortune, or burial. Windows, Mac and Linux in 2019 with other platforms TBD.

A Way Out

A closer look at the two main characters of this prison break adventure, a “cinematic, story-driven co-op game,” says movie and now game director Josef Fares. “You only buy one copy and you invite your friend to play with you for free.” Mar. 23, 2018 on PS4, XBO and PC. JB
